Eastbourne Carnival was such a vibe and exactly what Eastbourne needed
If you was down at the Eastbourne Carnival on Saturday 4th June you would have been met by lovely soca music, exotic and flamboyant dancers, vibrant colours from the wide verity of specially made costumes, a beautiful lady on stilts and that was just to get the Carnival started through the main Eastbourne town centre! This is all after the Mayor of Eastbourne gave the Eastbourne Carnival he’s blessings and told some history of previous Carnivals.
This years Carnival all started off at The Enterprise Shopping centre, the Carnival then made its way through the heart of Eastbourne’s town centre bringing smiles and amusements to visitors and residents alike. Straight past The Beacon Shopping centre and through the bus lane, but there was no hold ups, as it was planned perfectly. Phones could be seen everywhere, people smiling ear to ear and even a select few getting carried away with the sound and vibe of the Carnival music, yes thats right people was generally just joining in dancing along in Eastbourne’s town centre with all to see.
As these devoted performers and artists alike made their way through the town they engaged with the public, stopping for pictures, started dancing with children and generally brought a vibe to the streets of Eastbourne for all to enjoy. It was a lovely random surprise for all the visitors, shoppers and residents of Eastbourne who had no idea an event like this was passing through the town. If you was there you would have felt the joy that brought to everyone by this start to what was a fantastic day of Carnival.
As the Carnival moved up through the town to the seafront, more and more people followed, crowds of happy people join the already waiting hundreds of people of Eastbourne seafront to see all the floats that would go by. The Carnival joined all the floats and they whole Carnival lit up Eastbourne seafront with music, summer vibes, great performers, so much colour and happy faces all around. It was such a great event, easy to say it was a success!

It’s very clear that any town or city to do such a large event will obviously attract crowds, get local and possibly national coverage. Large events increase local revenue, increases those visiting and even those possibly having a few days holiday in the events location. In regards to Eastbourne, everyone knows we have AirBourne and the big Tennis event, but what about the wonderful, colourful world of Eastbourne Carnival?
Well as you can see from the event we’ve recently had its been a HUGE success, with positive feedback throughout and large number of people who attended the event, both visitors and residents alike. This is great for Eastbourne’s economy and additionally for those who love Eastbourne. It’s a way of Eastbourne providing even more for everyone who’s visits and lives here.
Another great aspect of this Carnival us businesses in and around Eastbourne had a chance to create their very own colourful and entertaining floats, so they could show their businesses to the thousands who would see Eastbourne Carnival. The streets were packed, mobile phones everywhere, photographers up and down the whole seafront. Media coverage throughout the event and that doesn’t include the social media buzz that still going on from the event. So clearly Eastbourne businesses involved in the event benefited from such a fantastic day.
